The Sizzle and Passion of Tango!

In this Shared Private Lesson series, limited to just five attendees, Jeremy Cohen will teach you how to approach playing tango, with an emphasis on techniques.  Since the lesson is small and live, you are assured of personal, one-on-one coaching directly with Jeremy. Starting with a historical overview and demonstration in the first lesson, techniques and play-along in the second, by the end of the third lesson you’ll learn to play two popular tango classics, El Choclo and Libertango.

Series Details

This series consists of three shared private lessons with other musicians.  There will be a maximum of 5 musicians in a shared private lesson. The series is appropriate for any violinist, violist or cellist at the intermediate to advanced level.Jeremy will provide all lesson materials, including exercises and sheet music, which will be posted in the lesson window and are yours to keep.

Prerequisites for Attendees

Bring your instrument! Nothing else required.

Basic Curriculum

Lesson 1: A history and overview of the tango. A demonstration of tango tunes by Jeremy, with emphasis on the rhythmic and musical effects and approach.

Lesson 2: Getting into the techniques and approaches to playing tango, with play-along.

Lesson 3: Putting it all together, with a flourish! Jeremy will coach you on a traditional tango tune, El Choclo, and also a more modern piece, the famous Libertango, by Astor Piazzolla.

How to Prepare for your Session

Connection details to the private lesson series will be provided no later than 24 hours before the start of the first lesson or upon registration. Don’t forget your instrument!
